Cambridge LAkes Community Theatre Announce Auditions for the Summer Musical Production of "The Wiz"

Dorothy's adventures in the Land of Oz have been set to music in a dazzling, lively mixture of rock, gospel and soul music. Everybody knows the story, but now it's a new fantasy for today– mysterious, opulent and fanciful. THE WIZ is based on "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum, and is one of Broadway's most popular contemporary musicals. THE WIZ is a multi-cultural journey that follows this well-known and beloved story of courage, brains, heart and home.

  • Saturday, May 12, 2012 @ 10am for ages 4-8 & 12pm for ages 9 and up
  • Sunday, May 13, 2012 @ 12pm all ages
  • Monday, May 14, 2012 @ 5pm & 7pm

Adults are welcomed to participate in the production (roles are available).

Auditions will consist of dancing, singing and reading from the script. Please prepare a song for your audition (preferably from "The Wiz" or "Wizard of Oz"). Come dressed for movement and bring a headshot to leave at the audition.

SCRAPBOOKING PARTY

Friday, March 23rd 5-8pm in the CLCC Gathering Lounge
Help build memories that will last a lifetime! Bring in some pictures and your creativity! We have scissors, glue and a blank book for each person. Please bring in whatever scrapbooking materials you have that you would be willing to share.

  • $10 per person includes a take away scrapbook.
  • 10+ (minors must be with a parent).
  • Min 10 Max 20.
  • Register at the front desk.
  • Registration Open Feb 1st to Mar 9th.
  • Snacks will be provided.

Pre-Teen Boxing

Ages 10-16. 8 week session for $70. Beginners Package required ($50) includes boxing gloves, mouth guard, mouth guard case, hand wraps and a drawstring bag.

Come try it out on one of the following Wednesday evenings at 6:00pm for FREE! Please note; one free class per participant.

Children's Dance Recital

Saturday, February 18th at 10:00 am in the Gymnasium.

Build Your First Fish Tank

Saturday, February 18th, 12:30-1:30p in Classroom #125

Learn how to build a self-sustaining fish tank! All necessary items will be provided. $25 per person/ Ages 7-12/ Registration open from January 4th to February 10th. Stop by the CLCC Front Desk to register. Call 847-464-1515 with questions.

CHEER CLINIC

Saturday, February 25th in the Aerobics Room.
9:00a to Noon: Ages 4-8 1:00-4:00p: Ages 9 and up

Coach David Lai of David Lai Movement Training will guide participants through the basic fundamentals of cheer including techniques such as tumbling, stunting, arm motion, jumps and voice projection. This clinic is a good fit not only for beginners but those looking for a refresher on core fundamentals as well.

Coach David has an extensive background in the arts. He specializes in musical theatre, dance, acrobatics, as well as tumbling & cheerleading. David is currently a Senior Coach at for an All Star Cheer program and also lends his experience to a dance studio and gymnastics gym in the area. David’s experience, not only as a coach but athlete as well, has brought him to National competitions all over the country for cheer and dance. David does private lessons at the Cambridge Lakes Community Center for tumbling, dance & acrobatics. Contact the front desk for more information or David at 630.373.8787.

3 ON 3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

  • What: Men & Women's Winner Basketball Tournament (16+)
  • When: Saturday, March 3rd starting at 9:00 a.m.
  • How: Register at the front desk by February 16th.
  • Team Fee: $50
  • Min of 8 teams. Max of 16 teams.
  • Prizes will be determined depending on participation.
